Top Tips for traveling to Disney World

May 11

If you’re traveling to Disney World, you will want to plan ahead to ensure that you get the best vacation possible. Here’s how:

1. Learn as much as you can before you travel. Look up Disney World discounts online, itineraries, and possible family plans. This will give you a sense of the best places to go, places you want to go, and how much money you can expect to spend. If you’re traveling with children, have the children help you with the planning. This way you will not have to worry about children being upset with the suggested itinerary.

2. Stay flexible. Even if you have your itinerary planned, staying flexible allows you to relax and enjoy your vacation.

3. Unless you are the owner of a huge web design company or the CEO of an international conglomerate, you will likely be on a budget. Budget everything, including the cost of meals, souvenirs, and other expenses. This way, you won’t end up overspending.

4. If you will be in Disney for more than a few days, buy a pass that covers a few days (a multi-day pass). You will have more flexibility to move between theme parks, and you’ll save some money as well. If you are traveling in the summer, make sure that your multi-day pass includes admission to water parks. You’ll be grateful for it when the heat hits.

5. Start your days early. Sure, you’re on vacation, but Disney isn’t a place you want to sleep in. Arrive at the park 30 minutes before opening, take a break in the middle of the day, and be sure to be in the park for the afternoon and evening fireworks. This is the best way to ensure that you have a great experience that includes lots of sights and adventures. If you have a flexible ticket, make sure that you head to more than one park during a day. Perhaps choose one park for the morning, and then had to another park in the afternoon.

6. Don’t try to see it all. You can live at Disney for years and not see everything, and the park is always changing as well. Focus on seeing the things that really matter to you, and enjoy s great vacation.

7. If you are on a budget, dine smart. If you want to enjoy some dinners at Disney restaurants, but don’t want to spend a lot of money, try lunch buffets or breakfast buffets, which have huge portions and allow you to get two meals worth of food in one at less than the cost of dinner.

8. Consider seeing other attractions in Orlando. While Disney’s exciting, you might want to head to the beach or see downtown Orlando or some of the other local attractions. Florida has lots to offer.

9. If you want to buy souvenirs at the parks, your best bet is to wait until the last day of your vacation to shop. Have children keep note of which souvenirs they want, and then have them select the one souvenir that they really wanted at the end of their trip. This will help prevent whining and last-minute impulsive shopping.
